What makes professional web design

Web design is more than good looks. It decides whether people find their way around your website, trust it and find their way to you.

  • Visual design

Colours, typography, spacing and images create a calm, consistent overall look that suits your business.

  • User guidance

Navigation, page layout and buttons lead visitors straight to the information they are looking for.

  • Content hierarchy

The most important things come first and stand out. Headings, paragraphs and highlights make long content easy to scan.

  • Brand presence

Your website picks up what your customers already know from you – from your logo to the tone of your texts.

Who good web design makes a difference for

Web design from Graz for businesses throughout Styria – it makes a particular difference in these situations:

  • Your branding should look all of a piece

Your logo, printed materials and premises look professional, but your website does not keep up – a case for a relaunch with a new design.

  • The content is right, but the site is confusing

Everything important is somewhere on the website, but it is hard to find or barely readable on a phone.

  • You are planning a new website

Design and ease of use matter to you, and you want to get them right from the start.

Our design principles

  1. Clarity over effect

Every page has one main message and an obvious next step. Design supports that instead of distracting from it.

  2. Readability first

Large enough type, comfortable line lengths and enough contrast – so texts stay readable on the go and in sunlight.

  3. Consistent, not random

Recurring elements such as buttons, lists or forms look the same everywhere and behave the same way.

  4. Motion in moderation

We use animations sparingly. Anyone who has set “Reduce motion” on their device gets a calm display.

  5. Designed with real content

Where possible, drafts are created with your actual texts and images rather than placeholders – so you see early on how the page really comes across.

Designed for smartphones first

Many people look up opening hours, a phone number or directions while on the go. That is why we design for small screens first and then extend the layout for tablet and computer.

Responsive web design does not mean simply shrinking the desktop version. Content is rearranged for each screen size: columns stack, menus become more compact and the most important things stay at the top.

What we pay attention to

  • Phone number and email address can be tapped directly
  • Buttons and links are big enough for your thumb
  • No sideways scrolling, no cut-off content
  • Images are loaded at the right size for each device
  • The navigation stays clear even on a small screen

Accessibility and usability

An easy-to-use website helps everyone: people with impaired vision, older people, anyone who only has one hand free at the moment – and, in the end, search engines too.

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Accessibility is not an afterthought but part of colour choice, font sizes, page layout and forms from the start.

What we pay attention to

  • Sufficient contrast between text and background
  • Full keyboard operation and a visible focus indicator
  • A meaningful heading structure for screen readers
  • Alternative texts for meaningful images
  • Forms with clear labels and understandable error messages
  • Zoom to 200% without losing content

How your web design comes about

You see early on where the design is heading and have a say at every step. You receive drafts for your feedback. If web design is part of a website creation or relaunch, we then build the approved design as a finished website.

  1. Getting to know you and reviewing what exists

We talk about your business, your target group and how your online presence should come across.

Your part: You show us what already exists, and examples you like – or don’t.

  2. Sketch the page structure

Before we talk about colours, we decide which content appears on the most important pages and in which order.

Your part: You check whether the emphasis suits what you offer.

  3. Design draft

Using a sample page, you see colours, typography, imagery and the most important building blocks working together.

Your part: You give feedback on the draft.

  4. Revise

We incorporate your feedback until the design is right.

Your part: You approve the draft.

  5. Apply to all pages

The approved design is applied to all pages and worked out for smartphone, tablet and computer.

  6. Check

We test display, usability and accessibility on different devices and fix whatever we find.

Your part: You look at the result before launch.

What we need from you

Not everything has to be ready at the start. The more we know about your business and your current branding, the better the draft will fit.

  • Logo, colours and fonts, if available – printed materials or a style guide also help
  • Photos of your business, your team or your work
  • Examples of websites you like or dislike
  • Your content, or at least a first draft of it
  • A description of your most important target groups
  • A contact person who can approve drafts

Frequently asked questions about web design

What is the difference between web design and website creation?

Website creation covers the whole journey from planning to launch. Web design is the part that determines what your website looks like, how content is organised and how easy it is to use. It is already included in website creation and in a relaunch, but can also be booked on its own.

Do you work with templates?

No. We design your website individually for your business – to suit your content and your customers.

Will my website then be accessible?

We design and test with the criteria of WCAG 2.2 at level AA as our goal. Whether a website stays accessible also depends on content added later – such as image descriptions or PDF documents. Whether legal requirements apply to what you offer is best clarified with legal advice.

Can you just redesign our existing website?

Yes, you can also book web design on its own – we set the scope and price individually in the offer. If you would also like us to build the new design, this is done as part of a website relaunch: your website is rebuilt technically, and we do not continue running your previous system.
